The Experience

• Can be taken at Furnace Sidings Station, Torfaen

Set off on a memorable steam train journey from the beautiful Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway with an All Day Rover Ticket.
Enjoy a delicious breakfast sandwich and your choice of a hot drink/bubbly as you take in stunning views of rolling landscapes and historic surroundings.
Dis-embark the Railway at The Big Pit and Explore South Wales' history of Coal and the Industrial Heritage Museum.
Enjoy entry to the Big Pits' Underground Tour. Prepare to be lowered 90 metres (300 feet) down the Big Pit mineshaft for our famous underground tour - a captivating journey around a section of original underground workings.
Re-embark the train when you wish.
Continue your day by exploring local beauty spots with an e-guided circular hike, making this a perfect nostalgic experience for all generations.

Please note, we do not cater to specific dietary needs, such as gluten-free options.

Tours are available May/June/July/August.

The Package

• Scenic 60-minute steam train ride departing from and returning to Blaenavon Railway
• Entry for the Underground Tour at The Big Pit National Coal Museum
• Your rover ticket on standard running days allows you to travel as much as you want and to leave and rejoin the train at any station
• Breakfast sandwich and your choice of hot drink or bubbly
• Additional 60-minute diesel train ride (selected days)
• E-guided circular hike from the venue to a scenic local beauty spot
• Free on-site parking and café facilities available
